6/8/2005: Backdrop Community Tour (ISABELLE) @ Osaka Muse
By: Xelyna
Last night's live at Osaka Muse was way bigger than I thought it would be - it took me almost half an hour to get in, and another half an hour for everyone else to arrive and the event to start. I had ticket number 211, but I was about 6 rows back in a totally packed hall - and that was because I stood up and waited at the front. I really shouldn't have, but because I hadn't seen most of the bands that were playing, I had no idea whether it would be good to stand at the front or not. The main problem was the heat - it wasn't so hot to start with, but after a couple of bands I was literally dripping wet with sweat! There were way too many people, and not enough air.
1. Kamikaze Boyz
2. Clavier
3. Mask
4. An Cafe
5. Duel Jewel
6. ISABELLE
WOW. ISABELLE is AMAZING. Seriously, it was worth the admission fee and nearly dying several times just for their set. ISABELLE is made up of AYA and seek from Psycho le Cemu, two members of Kamikaze Boyz and I think the vocalist is from another band that isn't Visual Kei (according to their message CD). Their sound is like hardcore heavy metal, and they're really, really good! I hereby take back everything bad I ever said about AYA - he is a total fucking legend! seek has always been fucking awesome in my eyes, but he's even cooler in real life too. Anyway, they came out on stage all wearing hoodies pulled over their heads, and they all had black lines painted across their faces at eye level, kind of like masks. AYA was also wearing a baseball cap and the singer was wearing a beanie, and basically it was kind of hard to see their faces for the first couple of songs until they took off the hoodies. I can't really describe the style of the singer because I don't know the differences between different types of metal, but it was very energetic. AYA and seek were going nuts and really getting the crowd going. But surprisingly, the crowd wasn't violent for this band even though their music was the hardest of the night! I wonder if it's only because ISABELLE doesn't tour much* so noone knew what to do. AYA and seek didn't mention anything about what's going on with Psycho le Cemu, but they seemed like they were really happy to be on stage with each other, and quite a few times they got the crowd to cheer for each other. As much as I don't like the Kamikaze Boyz, ISABELLE is really good so I can't completely hate them... maybe they should just do it full time.
After the concert I just went home, but they gave out a free CD so I listened to that. It has messages from all the bands, and the first one is from AYA and seek. I think AYA said he was in ISABELLE before Psycho le Cemu. Their talk was interesting, perhaps because it was recorded before DAISHI was arrested, so they both talk about PLC and stuff. I find it refreshing that they don't see anything wrong with Visual kei, and they even compare the music styles of PLC and ISABELLE like "Yeah, Psycho le Cemu's music has a lot of melody but ISABELLE doesn't really... it's just really hard and violent."
